Mothers Day Collection
Show her how much you care! Our Mother's Day collection includes a curation of pre-potted indoor plants and a special combo pack of our favorite Air Plants. All orders come with an exclusive limited-edition postcard.

Type: Bundle of 8 Tillandsia Air Plants that range in shapes and sizes.
Air Plants in this pack ranges from 2 - 7 inches large.

Caring for a Tillandsia (air plant) requires mimicking their natural tropical canopy habitat: provide bright, indirect light, a weekly 20–30-minute soak, and excellent air circulation. Never plant them in soil, and ensure they dry completely upside down within four hours to prevent rotting.

Follow these core instructions for your air plants:

1. Unpacking & Acclimation

  • Initial Soak: When your new plants arrive, they may be slightly dehydrated from transit. Submerge them in a bowl of room-temperature water for 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Drying: Vigorously shake off any excess water. Place the plants upside down on a towel in a well-ventilated area until they are completely dry (usually 1 to 2 hours).

2. Watering

  • Weekly Soak: Soak the plants in a bowl of room-temperature, filtered, or spring water for 20 to 60 minutes once every 7 to 10 days. (Avoid distilled or artificially softened water).
  • Drying Process: Always dry your air plants upside down to prevent water from pooling in the base, which leads to fatal rotting.
  • Supplemental Misting: In hot or dry environments, lightly mist the plants between soaks, but ensure they can still dry within 4 hours.

3. Light & Temperature

  • Light Requirements: Place them in bright, indirect, or filtered light. A bright room or an area near a curtained window is ideal. Avoid harsh, direct sun, which can sunburn the leaves.
  • Climate: Keep them in temperatures between 50°F and 90°F. Protect them from cold drafts, air conditioning vents, and freezing temperatures.

4. Air Circulation

  • Breathing Room: Adequate air circulation is just as crucial as water and light. Never keep them in closed glass terrariums, as this traps moisture and causes fungal decay.

5. Fertilizing

  • Occasional Feeding: Fertilize your Tillandsia once or twice a month during their growing season (spring and summer) using a bromeliad-specific or heavily diluted (1/4 strength) houseplant fertilizer. Spray this onto the leaves or add it to your soaking water.

6. Displaying & Maintenance

  • Mounting: You can display your plants on non-porous and non-rotting surfaces like driftwood, rocks, shells, or wire. Use waterproof adhesives like E-6000 or hot glue (allowed to cool slightly before applying) to secure them.
  • Grooming: It is completely normal for bottom leaves to brown and dry out as the plant grows. Gently pull off these dead outer leaves or use clean scissors to trim dry tips.

If you want, I can help you with specific care routines:

  • Tell me if you are keeping them indoors or outdoors
  • Share your general local climate/humidity
